History of Hugo Boss: from army fatigues for haute couture

Famous for its casual wear and classic cut men's suits, the German fashion house Hugo Boss is now a long established world leader in clothing. Named after the founder himself, Hugo Boss began in 1923 in Metzingen, Germany immediately after the First World War, as the country's industry has begun prosper again. However, by 1930, Boss face bankruptcy because of the economic climate in Germany floundering, but discouraged, was successful again in 1933 when his empire truly began to grow, as it became the official supplier of uniforms for the SS guard.

After war and the death of Hugo Boss himself in late 1947, the company carried on work clothing manufacturing before finally turning his hand to designing and production of costumes for men in 1953. As luck would have it, the fashion industry in the world was just beginning to focus more on clothing Men's and during the 60s and 70s in, Hugo Boss suits became the choice for lines riguer well trimmed and superb quality.

Having developed again in men's clothing and casual clothing for women, Hugo Boss was introduced on the stock market and garnered a great success with the group Marzotto Textile still the majority shareholder of the label on a global basis today.

Today there are more than 6,000 outlets for brands Hugo Boss and more than 1,000 stores in approximately 100 countries worldwide, making it a pillar of fashion. However, in December 2009 Hugo Boss has announced that it was closing its major clothing factory in Ohio, who served as the main production and distribution site for American Boss mens suits for 20 years. Despite the plant 150,000 suits a year, the closure came as the plant was not deemed to be at work At full capacity, and a more effective approach is needed to ensure future growth.
